Provider billing terms

Version 2026-09-19

This page sets out the billing terms for a paid CompareHQ listing (Professional or Premium), including the instalment and renewal terms referenced in the provider portal upgrade flow.

The annual commitment

A Professional or Premium listing is sold as an annual commitment, paid annually. Monthly instalment billing isn't currently being offered to new providers, though it may be reintroduced in future, the terms below describe how it works for when it is. Choosing to pay monthly, when available, splits that annual price into 12 instalments, it does not turn it into a plan that can be cancelled part way through the year. Agreeing to monthly billing means agreeing to pay all 12 instalments, in the same way agreeing to annual billing means agreeing to pay the full year up front.

How payment works

Paying annually is a single payment via a CompareHQ payment link. When monthly billing is offered, it works by setting up a standing order from your own bank to CompareHQ for the fixed monthly amount, for 12 payments, CompareHQ has no way to take this payment from you automatically. Each payment is confirmed manually by CompareHQ staff once it's received, and a provider's listing tier only goes live once the first payment is confirmed.

If a payment is missed

If a standing order payment or an annual renewal isn't paid, CompareHQ will send reminders and follow up directly before taking any further step. The amount already committed to for that year remains owed regardless of whether the listing stays live. Continued non-payment can result in the listing being moved to the Free tier and the outstanding balance being pursued as a debt.

Renewal and how “automatic” works

A listing renews for a further year at the end of its current term, at the standard renewal price for that tier (lower than the first year's signup price). CompareHQ will email a reminder ahead of each renewal and each monthly instalment. “Automatic” here means the reminder and the renewal date are automatic, not that a card or bank account is charged without a provider taking action. To stop the next year renewing, give CompareHQ written notice before the renewal date, for example by email.

Right to cancel

A provider can cancel within 14 days of agreeing to a paid tier, for a full refund of anything already paid. After that 14-day window, the annual commitment described above applies.
